The Commonwealth of Kentucky has outlawed “skill-based” gaming devices. Governor Andy Beshear signed legislation that renders these machines illegal. These machines, frequently found in gas stations and convenience stores, are crafted to resemble games of skill but in reality provide cash prizes, which violates gambling regulations. The new legislation empowers the state to impose fines of up to $25,000 on anyone who possesses or operates these machines. These devices are quite popular across the United States, with over $100 billion wagered annually.
