The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has chosen Raji Parker to join its group of leaders. Parker is a specialist in the legal aspects of sports.
Parker will begin his role as an Independent Non-Executive Regulatory Director on the first day of January, 2022. He will take over the position held by Sir Paul Stephenson, who joined the BHA leadership in 2015. Stephenson’s time with the BHA will end on the last day of December, 2021.
“We are thrilled to have Raji join our leadership group, his wide-ranging knowledge of regulatory matters and sports law will be a valuable addition to the board and the sport,” said BHA Chair Annamarie Phelps.
“We also express our sincere gratitude to Sir Paul Stephenson for his contributions to the sport during his six years at the BHA. He has played a crucial role in guiding significant changes in the rules and compliance of British horseracing. He is a person of high moral character and is respected and appreciated by everyone on the board.”
Parker has a wealth of experience in sports honesty and governance matters, having been involved in high-profile cases across a variety of sports. He is currently a member of the Football Association’s Judicial Panel and serves as an independent anti-corruption hearing officer for the Tennis Integrity Supervisory Board.
He serves as a senior consultant for the Financial Conduct Authority as well.
